Flight Crews Reveal The Darkest Secrets of Flying

Airplanes In Lightning Storms

It can be pretty scary to think that flying through lightning storms is a common thing, but the good news is that it is safe for airplanes to be struck by lightning, and it is something that happens all the time. These state-of-the-art airplanes are designed to take several strikes of lightning without suffering any damage, and it is nothing to worry about.

Some things that pilots have to look out for are hail, wind, and ice, which can cause severe damage to the airplane. Pilots are trained to stay away from stormy sections in the sky and always pick the safest routes.
