On June 22, in Paris, Artcurial Motorcars presented the latest edition of its classic “Automobiles sur les Champs,” or “Automobiles on the Champs (Elysées)” and brought together 72 collector cars as well as a selection of “automobilia,” the star of which was an F1 helmet from 1991 belonging to defending world champion Aryton Senna, estimated between $63,000 and $91,000. Another highlight of the auction was an Alpine A210 that participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the mid-1960s. All tolled, the event brought in a total of over $12 Million after 80% of the lots were sold. As for the biggest sale of the night, all eyes were on a 1991 Ferrari F40 which ultimately sold for $1.13 million. It was a successful night to say the least for the French auction house.
In addition to the total haul of over $12 million, there were 6 records broken which included:
Porsche 911 ST 2.3L Rallye Coupé – sold for $1.02 million
Bugatti Type 13 Brescia – sold for $1.01 million
Alpine A210 Berlinette Le Mans – sold for $535,000
Maserati Khamsin – sold for $307,000
Ferrari 308 GTB – sold for $227,000
Fiat Dino 2400 Spider – sold for $211,000
