Mattel's Fourth Quarter Profit Drops 46 Percent

The toy industry is an extremely large industry with high levels of gross profits and revenue. Just drop into your local Toys “R” Us and you will see thousands of brands made by various toy manufacturers. Children around the world always want some sort of toys, and the manufactures that we will be looking at in our lists are the largest toy companies in the entire world (by market capital).

5. JAKKS Pacific, Inc. – Market Capital: $152.47 Million

Coming in at number 5 on our list is JAKKS Pacific, Inc. JAKKS produces a wide range of toys for all age groups, for both boys and girls. They produce action figures, dolls, costumes, stuffed animals, and much more. They are associated with many large trademarks and produce toys for Star Wars, Disney, Cabbage Patch Kids, Nickelodeon, and Warner Bros.

4. Games Workshop Group – Market Capital: $327.21 Million

The next “toy” manufacturer on our list, while many will argue that these are not “toys”, is Games Workshop Group. Games Workshop Group produces the very popular “Warhammer” figurines that are extremely desirable among both children and hobbyists alike. Warhammer is so popular that a console video game was created called “Warhammer 40,000”. The Warhammer figurines are very tiny fantasy and science fiction figures that a person has to meticulously assemble and then paint, often with the aid of a magnifying glass. Some of the more rare models can reach over $1,000 dollars yielding to such a high market capital.

3. Playmates Toys – Market Capital: $469.96 Million

Next up on our list is the California based Playmates Toys. Founded in 1966 Playmates toys has produced toys for both young girls and boys. They produce Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toys, Waterbabies, and Hearts for Hearts Girls. Over the years they have produced a variety of other toys for companies, namely Disney.

2. Hasbro, Inc. – Market Capital: $6.5 Billion

At number 2 on our lists sits the giant toy manufacturer, Hasbro. Hasbro has been in the business for awhile and most people are familiar with this brand. This American toy company based out of Rhode Island, and is one of the largest toy manufactures in the world.  Founded in 1923 Hasbro produces Angry Birds toys, the Battleship games, Beyblade, Candy Land, Marvel toys, Monopoly, Nerf Guns, Star Wars toys, Super Soakers, Scrabble, Transformers, and much, much more giving them a number 2 spot on our list.

1. Mattel, Inc. – Market Capital: 11.95 Billion

Sitting in the number 1 spot on our list is Mattel, Inc. Mattel is one of the largest, if not the largest, toy manufacturer in the entire world. They have the highest market capital of any toy producing company as well. Founded in 1945 in California, this Fortune 500 company has a name synonymous with toys. Mattel owns and produces the Barbie line, Hot Wheels, Polly Pocket, Little Mommy, American Girl, Fisher-price, Matchbox cars, and more earning them the number 1 spot on our list of largest toy companies.
