Tablet based computing is all the rage today, and they were arguably first popularized by Apple when the launched the original iPad back in 2010. Since then, the iPad has easily become the most popular tablet based computer on the market, and iPads make up the majority of the tablet market share today. The newest iteration of the iPad, the iPad Air 2 is easily their best tablet yet. If you are looking for a high-end tablet, than look no further than the iPad Air 2.
The iPad Air 2 was released earlier this year and featured significant improvement upon the last generation. Apple focuses on a constantly evolving product, that is improved each generation, rather than drastically altering the product from one version to the next. Some people like this, while others do not. The first improvement that Apple made to their newest iPad is that it is much thinner. No like seriously this device is unbelievably thin. It is 18% thinner than the first iPad Air and measure out to be just 6.1 mm thick. They advertised the iPad Air hiding behind a pencil its that thin. It is also very light and only weighs 0.96 inches.
The tablet also has an improved Retina Display that is made from three layers and has a resolution of 2048×1536. On the iPad Air 2’s 9.7 inch screen it gets about 264 pixels per inch. Some people might complain that it is not Quad HD resolution, however I would argue that you cannot tell that much of a difference, and it is not worth the battery compromise (Quad HD phones drain battery life pretty drastically, for example). Speaking of battery, this iPad gets an impressive 10 hours of battery life.
The iPad Air 2 also has a new A8X chip that uses 64-bit architecture and is 40% faster than the old iPad Air. The tablet also has a Touch ID, improved cameras, and an improved Wi-Fi receiver. No matter how you cut it, the iPad Air 2 is a solid tablet that will sure to please you. If you have other Apple products, you will feel right at home, and if you are coming from either not tablet or an Android tablet, I’m sure that you will like it. The iPad Air 2 comes in 16gb, 64gb, and 128gb configurations costing $499, $599, and $699 respectively for the Wi-Fi versions. Cellular and Wi-Fi models cost $629, $729, and $829.
