The Most Expensive Yamaha Motorcycles

Yamaha Motor Corporation is a Japanese company that makes a variety of motorcycles, boats, ATV’s, engines, and various other small motorized vehicles that are not cars. The company was established in 1955 after breaking away from the Yamaha Corporation to differentiate itself and focus solely on motorized vehicles. Based out of Iwata, Japan Yamaha Motor Corporation is a well known motorcycle company with a multitude of vehicles in their line-up. While they are best known for their accessible sport and off-road motorcycles, the Yamaha Motor Corporation produces other motorcycles to meet your needs. We are going to take a look at some of the most expensive motorcycles that Yamaha currently sells in their 2015 lineup.

8. The FZ1 – $10,790

First up on our list is the FZ1. Hailing from Yamaha’s sport bike line, the FZ1 is a great balance between performance and comfort. The bike is powered by a large 998cc liquid-cooled inline 4-cylinder DOHC engine with 20 valves. This is a significantly large engine so this bike has a fair amount of “umpf” to it. The bike has a 6-speed transmission with a multiple wet clutch. The bikes has a 4.8 gallon fuel tank and gets 35 miles to the gallon, which is pretty “meh” for a motorcycle. The bike also has a wet weight of 487 pounds. The bike has an aggressive chassis and an upright, forward riding position. For those looking for an all around sport bike, the FZ1 is a great choice at $10,790 dollars.

7. The YZF-R6 – $11,190

Next up we have the YZF-R6 bike from Yamaha with a price of $11,190 dollars. This bike is from their super sport line and is the reigning champion from the Pro Daytona Sportbike competition. Being a super sport motorcycle, the YZF-R6 concerns itself with one thing: performance. This is not the bike that you want to use for a long-distance motorcycle adventure, this is the bike that you use to go really fast in. The bike has a 599cc liquid-cooled inline 4-cylinder DOHC engine that has 16 titanium valves, a 6-speed transmission, 4-way adjustable front and rear suspension, and a wet weight of 417 pounds. While this certainly is not Yamaha’s most powerful bike, it is still a great bike for those looking to race or go really fast. It is a good introduction bike into the world of super bikes.

6. The Super Tenere – $15,090

At number six on out list we have an adventure touring/dual sport motorcycle. The Super Tenere is the bike that you would use to travel all over the world, especially when your journey takes you off road. The bike can be used for both on and off road, and is large, powerful, comfortable, and has a big fuel tank; everything you would want in this type of motorcycle. The bikes has a 1199cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke 2-cylinder engine that gets 43 miles to the gallon, a constant mesh 6-speed transmission, an advance shock system for off road travel, and a large 6.1 gallon fuel tank. The bike also has plenty of rails that one can mount gear on that is needed for long ranged adventures.

5. The FJR1300A – $15,890

Next up on our is the first bike on our list from Yamaha’s “Supersport Touring” line of motorcycles. The FJR1300A with a price tag of $15,890, is the bike perfect for long ride on roads, or when you want to travel across the country. The bike has all the things you would hope to find in a touring motorcycle: a 1298cc liquid-cooled 4-cylinder engine, a 6.6 gallon fuel tank, traction control, cruise control, a customizable electronic instrument panel, an adjustable windscreen, a comfortable 2-position seat, and a solid suspension. This bike is sure to provide you with a very comfortable ride for your long ranged trips.

4. The Super Tenere ES – $16,190

At number four on our list we have a more premium version of the Super Tenere: The Super Tenere ES. While having the same engine as the normal Super Tenere, this version comes with features such as: an antilock brake system, a unified brake system, an electronically adjustable suspension, traction control, and a few other premium features that make it worth it to upgrade toe the ES version of this bike for about $1,000 dollars more.

 The YZF-R1 $16,490

The YZF-R1 bikes are Yamaha’s flagship supersport bikes, with the R1 being the entry level bike. This bike is meant for speed and maneuverability, as it is used on race tracks. The bike has a brand new compact 998cc high-output liquid-cooled 4-cylinder engine, titanium fracture split connecting rods (first time ever used in a production bike), an advanced MotoGP electronics package, gyro sensors, a banking-sensitive traction control, slide control, an ABS system, anti-wheelie control, and much more. If you’re looking for performance, this is your bike.

2. The FJR1300ES – $16,890

The FJR1300ES is very similar in every way to the normal FJR1300, however this version has an electronically adjustable suspension, hence the “ES”. Pretty much all differences end there.

1. The YZF-R1M $21,990

The YZF-R1M is Yamaha’s most expensive bike at $21,990 dollars and is their flagship motorcycles. This supersport bike is very similar to the normal R1 however this has more advanced and premium features such as: a more advanced electronic system, carbon fiber parts, a GPS,  six-axis inertial measurement unit, an adjustable electronic racing suspension, a titanium exhaust, and much more. Yamaha calls says this bike is “as close as you can get to a street-legal M1 MotoGP® bike”. If your looking for race worthy performance, with top-notch specs, this is your bike.
