The Highest Grossing Dwayne Johnson Movies

Premiere Of Warner Bros. Pictures' "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" - Red Carpet

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has come a long way since his beginnings in the entertainment business of professional wrestling for WWE. His career has had an amazing turnaround and Johnson has now become one of the most successful and beloved actors around. While he may not be an Oscar winning actor (yet), the man knows how to select movies with roles that he can thrive in. Let’s take a look at the highest grossing Dwayne Johnson movies.

5. Get Smart – $230,685,453

Get Smart came out back in 2008 and starred Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway with Johnson in a major supporting role. He played the film’s all-star spy who respected Steve Carell’s character but always had the spotlight shining on him due to his physical capabilities to make him the best of the best. In the end it turned out that Johnson’s character was actually behind everything in this light hearted comedy. The film grossed over $230 million worldwide and was the largest movie that Johnson had been a part of thus far.

4. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island – $335,260,290

In 2008 Journey to the Center of the Earth was released with Brendan Fraser in the lead. When he didn’t return for the sequel, Johnson jumped into the leading role of this fun family movie that did pretty well in the worldwide box office. The movie ended up generating just over $335 million and further displayed the diverse amount of roles that Johnson could play. While he is known for his physique and action roles, Journey 2 was a reminder that he could also appeal to families and children.

3. G.I. Joe: Retaliation – $375,740,705

Last year, Johnson was a part of the sequel/reboot of the attempted G.I. Joe movies; G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The film had Channing Tatum returning in a lead role but added on a new cast that included Johnson as well as Bruce Willis. The movie did not receive any spectacular ratings, but at least was a recognizable franchise and summer blockbuster that still caused for it to do decently well in box offices around the world.

2. Fast Five – $626,137,675

In 2011, Johnson really hit the jackpot when he was able to join the Fast & Furious franchise for it’s fifth installment, Fast Five. Johnson was brought in as the fifth films antagonist, Luke Hobbs, a federal agent determined to bring down Toretto and his gang. Johnson was the perfect addition to the F&F cast because the movie is action packed and full of fighting. The movie was a big hit in the box offices and even led to Johnson being kept around for the next movie as well.

1. Fast & Furious 6 – $788,679,850

That next installment, Fast & Furious 6, has been Johnson’s largest grossing film to date, bringing in over $788 million worldwide. He returned as Luke Hobbs but this time was a part of the squad, working with Toretto to track down a larger crime boss. The sixth film was an even bigger hit than it’s predecessor and it looks like Johnson is now a staple part of the franchise because he is also included in the 7th Fast & Furious movie.
