If Martin Scorcese and Leonardo DiCaprio did any justice to the character, then Jordan Belfort was truly one of the biggest sketch artists in the history of the investment industry. To make up for what he’s done is going to take a lot of money, but he may be in line for just that…
According to reports, the movie Wolf of Wall Street depicted the life of Jordan Belfort and his associates. The film was so successful that Belfort may be in line for a $100 million payday with which he will use to pay back his victims. Crazy right? Speaking in Dubai Belfort said:
“I’ll make this year more than I ever made in my best year as a broker. My goal is to make north of $100 million so I am paying back everyone this year.”
Currently, Belfort is a motivational speaker on a 45-city speaking tour in the United States that will net him about $50 million. That money is going right back to investors for the share of his fine. For his money laundering and security fraud, which conned people out of about $200 million, Belfort served 22-months in prison. The film The Wolf of Wall Street was a mild version of reality according to Belfort. Even still, it set the record for most F-words used in a feature film.
We’re hoping that Belfort follows through on his promise to pay back the victims of his schemes.
