Shanghai Disney Resort to Cost $5.5 Billion

Construction Work On The Shanghai Disney Resort Project

If you’ve been to Disney World or Disneyland you know what’s going on in Shanghai as one of the world’s greatest companies gets set to launch another resort location overseas. Disney does things right and they don’t take shortcuts. When you’ve vacationing with Disney expect every detailed to be covered. They have mastered the art of creating a uniquely magical experience for every individual. Enter Shanghai…

According to CEO Bob Iger, Disney intends to invest another $800 million into its Disney Shanghai, the first theme park and resort on the Chinese mainland. The extra $800 million will bring the total investment to a whopping $5.5 billion in total.

“Since we first broke ground in Shanghai we’ve been very impressed with the growth of China’s economy, especially the rapid expansion of the middle class and the significant increase in travel and tourism. Our accelerated expansion, including additional attractions and entertainment, will allow us to welcome more guests for a spectacular Disney experience on opening day.”

If you’ve been to Disney World or Disneyland you know crowds are an issue. That would be my one major complaint about the parks. Now imagine you’re in Shanghai and the park is in proximity of 330 million people. Yes, there are going to be crowd issues.

This will be Disney’s fourth theme park outside of the United States. They currently operate in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Paris.
