A grieving family
As tributes across the globe poured in, Williams left behind a grieving family struggling to cope with the news. His wife, Susan Schneider Williams, shared in a statement: “I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken.”
His daughter Zelda responded to his death by sharing that the “world is forever a little darker, less colorful and less full of laughter in his absence.” Williams’ eldest son Zak shared, “I will carry his heart with me every day. I would ask those that loved him to remember him by being as gentle, kind, and generous as he would be. Seek to bring joy to the world as he sought.” That’s exactly what his family committed to doing.
