Hilary Erhard Duff was born on September 28, 1987 in Houston, Texas. Her father, Robert, is a partner in a chain of convenience stores and her mother, Susan, is a mother-turned film and music producer. Duff moved to California at an early age with her sister Haylie, who is also an actress and singer. They both auditioned for television shows while their father stayed in Houston to run the business.
At the beginning of her career, Duff held small television and commercial roles. Her big break came in 2000 when she was cast as the lead for the Disney pilot Lizzie Maguire. She’s also released her own perfume titled “With Love… Hilary Duff”. Her latest venture is a book trilogy with Simon & Schuster. The first novel, Elixir, was released in 2010 in collaboration with Elise Allen became a New York Times best seller.
