Berries

While refrigeration can help extend the shelf life of most fruits and vegetables, berries have unique characteristics that make them more susceptible to damage when stored at low temperatures.
One reason is that berries are highly delicate fruits with thin skins that easily absorb moisture. When stored in the fridge, they can quickly become moist due to condensation inside the packaging or container. Moisture promotes bacterial growth and accelerates their deterioration, causing them to spoil faster than if kept at room temperature.
