Adidas and Parley for the Oceans Unveil 3D Printed Shoe Made From Recycled Plastic

Adidas has recently teamed up with Parley for the Oceans, an organization committed to ending the pollution of the oceans, to create a new sneaker that is extremely interesting. It wasn’t too long ago that Adidas teased the world with some 3D printed prototype sneakers, and now we are seeing yet another impressive concept shoe. It’s another Futurcraft prototype sneaker, but this time it’s made entirely from recycled materials.

Adidas and Parley for the Oceans wanted to create a sneaker that the both could get behind. Adidas obviously wants an athletic sneaker while Parley for the Oceans wants to help clean to oceans. So they have designed a sneaker that has an upper made from recycled plastics recovered from the oceans and a 3D printed midsole made from recycled polyester and gillnets. The end result is not only a sneaker that’s revolutionary, a first of its kind, and one that looks cool, but a sneaker that’s environmentally friendly as well. Everyone wins.

But don’t get too excited over the sneaker just yet as it still is just a concept. There’s no indication whether or not they will mass produce this sneaker and then sell it, but we really hope that they do. Personally I am a big fan of this sneaker, it looks aesthetically pleasing to me and I’d imagine it’s pretty comfortable as well thanks to that midsole. We expect the standard Futurecraft line to be released hopefully sometime next year, however there’s still no official word. Hopefully Adidas includes this sneaker as well, because I definitely want a pair.
