In our world where things change at a moments notice, where products are updated not even a year after they come out, few things seem to stand the tests of time. Inevitably when things do, there is a reason. Sometimes its clear right away when something will become a classic, or an icon. Other things take time. The Harley-Davidson Road King is one of those things.
Reminiscent of the classic Harley-Davidsons known from the 1940’s and the 1950’s, with their massive twin engines and iconic design, the 2015 Road King is the newest iteration of those amazing bikes. These touring motorcycles are extremely popular amongst Harley-Davidson and motorcycle enthusiasts, especially older riders looking for a classic. The touring bike has a massive 1690cc, air-cooled high output Twin Cam 103 engine. This huge engine means the bike weighs around 813 pounds. Being a touring motorcycle it has a large gas tank of 6 gallons, and can get 41 miles to the gallon, and has cruise control. The bike is available in a variety of different colors and comes with many options with prices starting at $18,449 to $19,449 for just color options.
While this motorcycle is a classic, it is still very much a modern motorcycle. The bikes has improved linked brakes with ABS, brighter turn signals and brake lights, an optional security system, air-adjustable suspension, ergonomically designed modern hand controls, dual halogen headlights and fog lamps, and much more. Combine that with the bikes luggage system, and this is an amazing motorcycle to take across the country. These bikes are typically marketed at older riders, I would say 40 years old and up, and they are quite special. You probably won’t see a 19 year old riding this, but you probably like that the don’t ride this motorcycle. The can stick to their Japanese sport bikes, the Road King is all you need to rule the roads.
