Google Partners with Luxxotica to Bring in Ray-Ban, Oakley to Make Glass More Stylish

65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards - Arrivals

When Google first launched Glass there was a buzz around it that has since faded. While there is still a fascination around the idea of Glass, the masses have since lost interest in the concept. Don’t misunderstand, there’s still a strong market for Glass, but in order to appeal to all, Google has made some moves to relaunch the concept.

The search engine giant has announced that it will be working with Luxottica Group to bring designs from Ray-Ban, Oakley and Vogue Eyewear to create a more wearable display. Google made its announcement on its Google+ page in speaking of a vision to see Glass seamlessly slide into the evolution of everyday eyeglasses. Doesn’t sound too inconceivable does it?

The irony of the situation is that Google is yet to announce when they are going to launch Glass itself. Perhaps the designer Glass headsets will be quite some time away – most definitely after they’ve launched Glass itself. So yes, we have to be patience and not expect Oakley or Ray-Ban to be releasing Glass in their own brand styles anytime soon.

Google is full steam ahead with Glass regardless. They are set on making it the next big “thing” for consumers. They’ve even announced they will make prescription Glass. We will see how this plays out…
