Johnnie Walker Unveils The $2,800 “The Commemorative 1920 Edition” Scotch

Johnnie Walker The Commemorative 1920 Edition

Johnnie Walker, the respected and most popular name in Scotch whisky, has recently been putting out a line of limited edition batches that pay homage to the brands history. Dubbed the “Epic Dates Collection”, these various releases are meant to celebrate the popularization of their whisky over the years, each of which corresponds to a specific year of importance to the brand. They have just unveiled the fifth release for this collection, and it’s called “The Commemorative 1920 Edition”.

The Commemorative 1920 Edition was created to celebrate, obviously, the year 1920 which was the 100th anniversary of the famed whisky brand. Additionally in the 1920’s Alexander Walker, the son of John, worked tirelessly with others to “globalize” the whisky and spread the brand across the world. This is why the decorative box that it comes with has a map of the world on it.

In total they are only producing just 540 bottles of The Commemorative 1920 Edition Scotch, all of which have been signed by Jim Beveridge, Johnnie Walker’s master blender/whisky craftsman. The whisky itself smells fruity and sweet, and in terms of taste, it’s a smooth whisky with hints of almonds, toffee, fudge, fruit, vanilla, and the distinct smoky flavor that give this whisky a familiar yet distinct taste.

Those that are interested in this particular release might have some difficulties acquiring a bottle unfortunately. Again, they are only making just 540 bottles in total, which are priced at $2,834 dollars. But then they will only be sold at select Johnnie Walker House embassies which are located only in Mumbai, Taiwan, Singapore, Israel, Amsterdam, South Korea, and New Zealand. Still, those that can get a bottle or two will have an extremely fine Scotch on their hands that will only get better (in terms of both flavor and value) with age.
