Ever since eyeglasses were first invited to provide people with improved vision, it was not long until people began making fashion statements out of them. It is understandable, glasses are on your face and if you can’t see without them, then you are probably going to be wearing them at all times. So why not have some of the most fashionable glasses that money can buy? Maybe you do not care, and are fine wearing the $20 dollar glasses from Walmart, however a sense of fashion is important to some people. Now there are different levels of fashion, and the Gucci brand would be considered “high-fashion” as their products are typically extraordinarily expensive and are status symbols. So does this hold up for their eyeglasses? As it turns out, maybe not quite.
There are a variety of different eyeglass companies that one can choose from when purchasing prescription eyeglasses: Ray Ban, Oakley, Dolce & Gabbana, Armani, Ralph Lauren, Prada, Versace, and Gucci to name a few high-end manufacturers. With these companies you are purchasing some of the more fashionable eyeglasses, and are making a statement with them. These eyeglasses cost a lot because not only do they look good, but they have that high-end brand name on the side of them. Now with Gucci, a company who makes $2,000 dollar wallets and $30,000 handbags, one would expect their eyeglasses to be astronomically expensive. However, this is not really the case.
Gucci makes a wide range of eyeglasses for both men and women, and they are actually priced pretty competitively for what they are. Take a company like Ray Ban or Oakley, for example. Oakley ‘s Carbon Plate Eyeglasses start at $350 and Ray-Ban sells prescription eyeglasses anywhere from $100 to$ $300 dollars. While these might seem expensive to some people, they are a fair price for a brand name pair of eyeglasses. Now Gucci sells their eyeglasses for around the same price. One can get Gucci eyeglasses for as low as $100 dollars and as high as $350 dollars. Compared to other companies who do not have nearly has much brand equity, that is not too bad. I mean Oakley is typically associated with snowboarding and extreme sports, they do not nearly have a name that is established as well as Gucci. However Gucci has many eyeglasses that are less expensive than Oakley’s, for example.
So when it comes to high fashion and eyeglasses, it would seem that you if you want a name brand company, then you should shop around. While there are cheaper eyeglasses out there, Gucci offers some solid products at competitive prices compared to others. One would expect that with a company like Gucci that they would have $4,000 dollar eyeglasses, however this is simply not the case. You can rock Gucci eyeglasses for a relatively low price.
