All the major luxury and premium automobile manufacturers are currently in competition to release high-end SUV’s and crossovers for markets around the world. We are seeing companies like Jaguar, Bentley, and Maserati (among others) making progress on releasing a luxury SUV for the first time. Other brands that have SUV’s are working hard to revamp their current offerings, and Volvo has just recently revealed their hand with an all-new XC90 concept that they showed of at the Shanghai Auto Show this week. While the exterior remains fairly standard, it’s what they have done on the inside that’s the most impressive.
People are already calling this Volvo the most luxurious one ever made, and when you take a look at the interior you will immediately know why. Volvo made a very bold move with the new XC90 as they have completely removed the front passenger seat and the third row to make room for something they call the “Lounge Console”. Volvo has developed this vehicle specifically with China in mind, as there is a massive demand for luxury SUV’s that will be driven by chauffeurs or personal drivers.
As you can clearly see this new interior is one of the most spacious options that we have ever seen, and it’s definitely one of the most luxurious options that you could get in a vehicle. In place of the front passenger seat we now find a console that has many features. It can be used as a foot rest, a small work station, and there’s even room for a large television. The XC90 has now become one of the most impressive vehicles to be used by personal drivers; you don’t even get that much leg room in a Rolls-Royce.
Outside of the impressive Lounge Console, we find a host of other luxury features and amenities within the vehicle. Volvo has added a new-trim, they’ve made the quilted leather seats more comfortable and included a built-in massage machine, there’s heated cup holders, ambient lighting, compartments for clothing and watches, added soundproofing, a personal safe for valuables, and plenty of more features you would expect a luxury vehicle to posses. More details about this new XC90 will most likely come soon, but for now it certainly seems like the most luxurious Volvo that has ever existed.
