Five Things You Didn’t Know about Tesla Motors

One thing that is certain about Tesla Motors is the fact that the manufacturer always manages to stay on top of their game. Almost anything that the company says or does is talked about, analyzed and widely speculated. Consumers love Tesla, and everything Tesla says and does. However, whatever you might think you know about the company might not be the full picture. Here are a few things you didn’t know about Tesla.

First Profits

As a publicly traded company, people expect to learn a lot about Tesla’s financial situation. What most people don’t realize, however, is that the company didn’t actually report a profit until 2013. At that point, the company was more than 10 years old. It’s only been in the black for a little over a year at this point.

Tesla Was Founded 3 Years Before You Thought

Most people believe that Tesla is just about 8 years old since the company debuted its first car in July 2006. However, Tesla Motors was actually founded in 2003, also in July. However, until the first vehicle was produced, it was not really a public thing. Most people didn’t notice until 2006.

It’s Worth More than Other Car Manufacturers

Despite being so young and not making any profits for 10 years, Tesla is wealthier than other vehicle companies that have been around much longer. For example, the company is worth more than Mitsubishi, Isuzu and Suzuki. The current market cap of Tesla Motors is $32.6 billion.

Tesla Model S Needs Four Parts Changed – Only

The second car in the Tesla family is the electric model S. It is known for only needing four parts replaced regularly. This includes the tires and the wiper blades. Technicians will check the battery juice from time to time, but that’s about all the maintenance a Tesla Model S actually needs.

Tesla is a Silicon Startup

If there is one thing that could predict the success of a company, it could be where it begins. Most of the biggest and most profitable companies in the world today are startups from Silicon Valley. Tesla is one of them. This is big news since most auto manufacturers begin in Detroit.
