The Five Most Expensive Chipotle Menu Items

Restaurant Chain Chipotle Warns Climate Change Could Force Guacamole Off The Menu

Chiptole Mexican Grill is a popular fast-casual restaurant that provides its patrons with a variety of different Mexican inspired dishes, primarily burritos, tacos, and quesadillas. But despite the variety that they offer, their made-to-order burritos are what got this Colorado chain famous. Since the first restaurant opened in 1993, Chiptole Mexican Grill has opened over 1,600 stores across the United States, Canada, and parts of Europe. Their food costs a variety of different prices however most of their main entrees cost the same, so we are going to examine some of the most expensive items on their menu.

5. Tacos (Chicken) – $6.25

The first item on our list from Chipotle are their chicken tacos. The tacos are a staple at any restaurant that wants to pass off as a “Mexican” restaurant. The chicken used in the tacos is marinated in Chipotle’s spicy and smoky chipotle-chilli adobo. The tacos are served in either a hard or soft shell tortilla with a variety of other ingredients added to your liking.

4. Tacos (Carnitas, Steak, Barbacoa) – $6.65

Next up on our list are the tacos made with either carnitas, steak, or barbacoa meat. These meats are of higher quality than chicken and are considered tastier. The steak is marinated in the same sauce as the chicken, while the carnitas (naturally raised pork) is braised with thyme, bay leaves, juniper berries, and cracked black pepper. The barbacoa is spicy shredded beef  braised with chipotle chiles, garlic, oregano, cumin, and cloves. All three are served up the same way as the chicken tacos.

3. Salad (Carnitas, Steak, Barbacoa) – $6.65

As we said before, most of Chipotle’s main entrees cost the same (before extra ingredients are added) so the remainder on our list are in no particular order. But next on our list is the Mexican salad that Chipotle offers for those who are more health and nutrition conscious. The salad is made of freshly chopped romaine lettuce, either pinto or black beans, salsa, cheese, guacamole (costs extra), and chipotle honey-vinaigrette dressing. You also choose your meat whether its chicken, steak, carnitas, or barbacoa. But for purposes of this article the steak, carnitas, and barbacoa costs more at $6.65 while the chicken salad is $6.25.

2.Burrito (Carnitas, Steak, Barbacoa) – $6.65

The classic Chipotle burrito is on our list, and it is arguably the most popular item that Chipotle serves. Patrons can choose between either a white or whole wheat tortilla and then they choose their meat, beans, salsa, optional sauce and guacamole, and various other ingredients like all items Chipotle offers its consumers. As seen in their other entrees, the steak, carnitas, and barbacoa options cost more than their chicken counter part.

1. Burrito Bowl (Carnitas, Steak, Barbacoa)- $6.65

Next up on the list is the Chipotle burrito bowl. Essentially the burrito bowl is all of the various ingredients found in the traditional Chipotle burrito and extra ingredients that the patron chooses, but served without a tortilla. If you don’t like the mess that comes with eating a Chipotle burrito then you should definitely check out the burrito bowl.
