You Can Charter The Most Expensive Sailboat in The World For $400,000 Per Week

The Most Expensive Sailboat - The Maltese Falcon

Take just one look at The Maltese Falcon, the most expensive sailboat in the world, and you just know that this ship is unlike any other yacht or sailboat that’s out there. First launched in 2006 and built by Perini Navi, The Maltese Falcon is one of the largest, private sailing yachts in the world as it comes in at an astounding 289 feet. And with an initial price of $150 million dollars, it’s also the most expensive sail boat currently in existence. The best thing is that you can actually rent out this behemoth…for around $400,000 dollars per week.

The designers behind this vessel wanted to create a yacht that would be extremely unique and absolutely amazing. Essentially they have created a luxury super yacht that boasts three large masts, effectively turning it into a sailing vessel. But this is more than just a sailboat as it has often been described as an entirely new class of vessel. Each mast is made entirely from carbon fiber and they are 190-feet in height. The mast are completely self-standing and can rotate around so they will always be in the wind. The 25,833-square-feet of sail can be deployed with a single switch, and just one crew member can effectively pilot the entire vessel. That alone makes The Maltese Falcon extremely impressive, and obviously quite expensive. Additionally The Maltese Falcon has two 1,800 horsepower engines for when there’s no wind. The yacht can reach speeds of 19.5 knots (22.4 mph) and since it’s a sailing yacht, it has a range of around 3,000 nautical miles.

The Maltese Falcon has changed owners a few times over the years, but now you can currently charter the vehicle for anywhere between $400,000 to $434,000 dollars per week, depending on the rates. The interior of the vessel is essentially like a luxurious hotel, having all the accommodations you could ever want. It can accommodate 12 guests in total, offering VIP suites, private bathrooms, a personal gym, a few state rooms, an entertainment room, and much more. If you charter the vessel, 18 crew members will be at your disposal including a personal chef and a few butlers. All-in-all it’s probably the most luxurious sailing experience that you could have, but it certainly comes at a large price. But given how much this ship actually costs, that $400,000 is all but a fraction of the true cost.
