The TRON series has been one of the more successful science-fiction films of recent years, and the films have inspired many fans and filmmakers alike. The original TRON film was very ground-breaking at the time, and it secured a good following. When the second film was released in 2010, it brought a newer and younger audience to the table. Both fans will agree that if they could have anything from these iconic movies, it would be the motorcycles or the “light cycles” that are often depicted in the films. Well now you can actually own one, as a custom made light cycle is about to hit auction.
Constructed back in 2011, this is a custom electric motorcycle that was built for the Andrews Collection. The motorcycle features a 96-volt, direct-drive electric motor, hydraulic brakes, and lights that illuminate the vehicle at night. Sure it may not be an exact replica from the movies, but it is as close as it gets. The bike is fully-functioning and has only been ridden a few times. It has been in the Andrews Collection since 2012, and only a few staff members have ridden on it a handful of times around the Andrews facilities. So it’s technically “used”, however it is in near-perfect condition. Imagine riding this bike with a matching TRON helmet and riding jacket (those do exist).
The bike will be put up for sale at a RM Sotheby’s auction on May 2nd, along with a few others from the Andrews Collection and it is expected to sell for $40,000. The Andrews Collection is a car and motorcycle collection that has been amassed by brothers Paul and Chris Andrews over the years. They have collected some 150 vehicles that include many rare vehicles like a 1963 Ferrari 400 Superamerica and a 1953 Aston Martin DB2, among many others. They are selling 78 vehicles at this coming auction which include this TRON light cycle. So if you’ve ever wanted a TRON bike, now is your chance to act.
