Based out of Massachusetts, Zurn Yacht Design in an American, full-service design and engineering company that can help make your yachting dreams become a reality. They design a wide range of powerboats, small yachts, and sailboats and are well recognized within the industry. Recently they have unveiled a brand new concept, the Duffield-58, and it looks like a sold vessel. Let’s take a quick look at this boat and what it has to offer.
We only have access to 3D renderings right now, as the boat is just entering into production, however it still gives us a good sense of what the Duffield-58 is about. Essentially this is a moderately sized vessel that is both a trawler and a comfortable yacht, meaning you can fish on it with relative levels of luxury or just cruise around. This yacht is being produced in collaboration with the yacht builder Marshall Duffield, who wanted improve upon the classic West Coast trawler. From the outside the yacht is fairly traditional but as you can see there is plenty of room to even house a small dingy.
On the inside of the yacht we find a large and comfortable living space. There’s a kitchen, plenty of storage, and a few areas to sit down. Additionally you’ll notice that the walls are pretty much covered in windows because we don’t want to miss out on those views. Like the West Coast trawler, this boat is all about comfort and ease-of-use. The Duffield is powered by a Caterpillar C-18 engine that allows it to reach speeds of 19 knots. The engine is very quite and combined with the 672 gallon fuel tank, it can travel 550 nautical miles in total so its perfect for an extended weekend trip.
Under the main interior deck, we find the stateroom. The stateroom has a queen sized bed, plenty of storage compartments, and a full bathroom. Zurn has done a really good job with this design, and it seems like this 58-foot vessel will be very successful. There’s nothing really groundbreaking here, but that’s okay. This boat will attract a wide audience of customers who are looking for a solid, all-purpose yacht. The Duffield-58 is perfect for extended fishing trips or for just cruising around on the water. The combined levels of luxury and comfort with the fact that it is very easy to operate and maintain make it very attractive. However you use this yacht is up to you, but either way, people will most likely be pleased with the Duffield-58.
