LG’s Android Watch is the Latest in Wearable Technology

LG G Watch Urbane

The world of smartwatches has just gotten a whole lot sweeter with this newest edition from LG. While many people are still talking about the Apple Watch that isn’t even out yet, the world of Android wearables and other smartwatches is as vast as it is strong. LG has been killing it lately in terms of technology: the G3 cellphone was well received, they have a new Flex phone coming out, and have released multiple smartwatches. First it was the G Watch, then it was the G Watch R, and now it is the Watch Urbane.

Wearable technology, namely smartwatches, aim to offer consumers an additional means of interacting with their information. Smartwatches have a variety of functions, but are used most frequently to display cellphone notifications. When you can’t take your phone out, a smartwatch is a great option for checking messages. Additionally you can customize the face to be virtually anything: from moving images to traditional watch faces. The Urbane is the newest watch from LG, and they are declaring that it is an “update” of the G Watch R.

Compared to the G Watch R, the Watch Urbane features a more refined appearance. While the G Watch R was and is a great product, this watch seems more refined and elegant than its predecessor. The watch will be available in either a stainless steel color or a gold version, giving consumers a style preference. Additionally one will notice smaller bezels around the 1.3 inch, fully circle P-OLED screen. Outside of the appearance change, the internals of this watch and the G Watch R are virtually identical so one could expect the same user experience (which is hailed as one of the best Android Wearables out right now).

We don’t have a price yet as LG isn’t fully unveiling the watch until around early March at the Mobile World Congress conference held in Spain. I would guess that it will cost around $300 dollars or so. So if you are in the market for a smartwatch, maybe hold out a little longer as the Lg Watch Urbane seems promising.
