Virgin Galactic is Finally Cleared for U.S. Take Off

Whether you’re ready to believe it or not, we’re one step closer to having commercial space flights. I’m really not sure if I’m mentally ready for that, but the bigger question is: if you had a chance to flight to space would you do it? I think the resounding answer to that question is yes… Enter Virgin Galactic.

According to reports, Virgin Galactic signed a deal with the US Aviation authorities to let paying (and we’re talking serious paying customers) into space. The agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration sets out how routine space trips (that could feature you) from the Spaceport America base in New Mexico will be coordinated with normal air traffic control.

Commercial flights are to begin by the end of the year and 600 people are already signed up at $250,000 each – like we said – serious paying customers. SpaceShipTwo will be the ride that takes the customers to space.

Richard Branson and Virgin’s agreement beat SpaceX and their next generation DragonV2 spacecraft to market. The company was set to unveil the project in California on Thursday evening. Check it out…
