When a young high school grad enters college he or she usually has the intention of majoring in something cool and making the big bucks. Very rarely does a 17 or 18 year old embark on his or her journey through college with the determination to become a database administrator, quality assurance engineer, or executive recruiter. Little do they know one of those three jobs would make them the happiest and most fulfilled in their career.

According to a recent study done by CareerBliss, the happiest jobs out of 7,800 career titles are database administrator, quality assurance engineer or an executive recruiter. The surveyed asked close to 100,000 participants where they rate the following 10 categories on a scale of 1 to 5. (Work-life balance, Relationship with boss and co-workers, Work environment, Job resources, Compensation, Growth opportunities, Company culture, Company reputation, Daily tasks and Job control) Each category was waited equally.

How about those that are miserable? Security officers ranked as the unhappiest career on the list. The combination of boring job, little opportunity for advancement and low salary earned it the top spot. Coming in at number two and three were bank branch manager and accounts (no surprise there right?). Accountants are an interesting career to be on the unhappy list because they tend to earn well. They must have scored terrible in many of the other categories.

So there you have it high school grads. Pay attention to the list and you’ll have a happy, fulfilling career with a chance for advancement, money and a balanced lifestyle. It’s that easy right?
