Before reading this article and watching this video I suggest you sit down because it may blow your mind. Aircraft company Terrafugia is taking things to an entirely new level by releasing a video detailing a a vehicle they are hoping will take over in the future.
That’s right, a flying car. For the cool price of $279,000, Terrafugia is hoping to bring one of the concepts science fiction movies have thrived on for years. There are clearly hundreds of obstacles and safety issues to consider before we can even think about having one of these bad boys parked out in our driveway, but the video is evidence we are closer than ever.
The TF-X is just another example of how mature technologies such as hybrid engines and driverless controls have become. The concept of a car that can fly or plane that can drive presents a unique problem according to experts. While we’re just amazed at a vehicle that can do both, leading field experts believe it is impossible to create a good car than can fly well or a good plane that can drive well. Apparently, you can’t have your cake and eat it too.
It’ll be interesting to see how the flying car continues to develop. There’s also something else to consider – it’s driverless and flies on its own. Does that mean we won’t all need flying lessons? So many questions. Before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s just enjoy the idea.
