Given the downward spiral of McDonald’s sales in the last year and the upward trend of healthy food, perhaps it’s time they change their strategy a bit? It already looks like one McDonald’s location is using an age old strategy to boost sales: beauty. A woman dubbed the ‘McDonald’s Goddess’ for her striking looks has been the cause of a surge of sales at a Taiwan branch of the fast food restaurant.
A woman by the name of Wei Han Xu has become internet famous after a blogger shared photos of her working at McDonald’s. Photos showed her serving customers and buttoning up her shirt while she stood behind the counter.
Instead of wearing the regular work outfit, Han Xu is shown wearing a short skirt and high-heels while she’s cleaning the counter and serving up Big Macs. As a result, her fans have become obsessed with finding out where the “goddess” worked. Once they found out, customers piled in. Doll-like Xu – who is also known as WeiWei – is fine with the fame, having already appeared on Taiwanese game shows.
She’s also worked as a model and is 100% happy to pose for more pictures. McDonald’s restaurants in Taiwan are known for employing attractive women to work in their stores, and often encourage them to dress up. Female staff have been known to wear maids’ dresses and sailor uniforms for the past two years
Whether or not the U.S. follows suit is up for debate. Sales figures for this particular location have not been release but one thing’s for certain. Xu is attracting plenty of eyeballs.
