How Much is $100 Really Worth in Each State in the U.S.?

state

You might be surprised to find out that $100 can get you a whole lot more in some states than in others.  In fact, the discrepancy is so high that the Tax Foundation recently released an entire study on it.  The tax foundation sourced a bunch of data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis to put together a map of the United States that showed the true value of $100 in each state based on national averages.   As you’ll see from the figures below there’s more breakdown of the figures.

The South and Mid West led the pack as far as getting the most bang for your buck.  In fact, in some states $100 was worth $115.  In salary terms that would mean someone earning $50,000 in Mississippi would have to earn around $68,000 in Washington D.C. to have the same lifestyle.

On the flipside states like California, Connecticut, New York, and Hawaii all had values far below $100.   What state do you think is the most valuable and where do you stand in this analysis?
