Ducati Unveils its 2015 Scrambler at Intermot

There has been a recent trend in motorcycles where companies are producing bikes that are styled off of motorcycles that were made in the 1960s and the 1970s. Cafe Racers and Scrambler type motorcycles are becoming increasingly more popular these days among riders who want a up-right casual style motorcycle. These style bikes aren’t meant to go 200 miles per hour or take you up the side of a mountain, they are meant to offer a comfortable ride while above all else look really cool. These are personally my favorite types of motorcycles. Younger motorcycle enthusiasts are seen favoring these types of bikes and we see companies like Triumph and Moto Guzzi producing some of these types of bikes. These bikes are basic, light weight, rugged, and very cool. Well, legendary Italian motorcycle company Ducati has recently entered the ring with their all new Scrambler motorcycles.

The all new Scrambler series from Ducati was recently unveiled at Intermit 2014 in Germany. Ducati has announced four different motorcycles within their Scrambler line and they are sure to please motorcycle enthusiasts of all kinds. The bike features an air-cooled 803 cc L-twin engine that has 2 valves per cylinder. The twin engines are found on almost all of these styled bikes and are typically their defining feature. The bikes engine produces 75 horses and 50 pounds-feet of torque. Ducati exclaims that this is not a “retro” bike rather its “intended to be just how the legendary Bologna-built motorcycle would be today if Ducati had never stopped building it”. The bike has a 6-speed gear box, electric fuel injection (a must), LCD gauges, and front and back wheel disc brakes with ABS standard. The bike has a 56.9 inch wheelbase and a 3.57 gallon fuel tank. Ducati claims that the wet weight of their Scrambler is 410 pounds which is pretty light. The entry level “Icon Red” will cost $8,495 while the “Icon Yellow” will cost $8,595. Additionally the Urban Enduro, Classic, and Full Throttle versions will cost $9,995. The bikes should be available for sale sometime at the end of January 2015. Personally I am excited about these bikes but I am a bit bummed that there isn’t an all black model, but thats just me.
