The All-New Bombardier Challenger 650

Bombardier Aerospace announced this past Sunday that it has expanded its leading Challenger family of business jets with the addition of the all-new Challenger 650 aircraft. In partnership with NetJets, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway that offers fractional ownership and rental of private business jets, the Challenger 650 jet was introduced at the National Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Florida during a special unveiling event as a makeover of the best-selling Challenger 605. In June 2012, NetJets placed an order for 25 Challenger 650 jets–formerly known as the Challenger 605NG–with options for 50 additional aircraft. Equipped with GE CF34-3B engines with boosted thrust for short field takeoffs, the new $32.35 million 12-passenger Challenger 650 has a promised range of 4,000 nautical miles, allowing the jet to connect London to New York, Dubai to London, and Sao Palo to Miami non-stop. The all-new business jet’s widest-in-class cabin has been completely redesigned and features a galley with more counter space and a larger oven, comfortable new seats, business aviation’s most advanced cabin management system, Passenger Control Units, largest-in-class HD monitors, audio video on demand, Bluetooth integration, and a new side-ledge design. The Challenger 650 will also feature the Bombardier Vision flight deck, “providing pilots with cutting edge technology and superior design aesthetics for new levels of control and comfort, in addition to increasing situational awareness and reducing pilot workload. The aircraft’s ownership experience also comes with a top-rated worldwide support and service commitment and capability. Deliveries of the Bombardier Challenger 650 are expected to begin in the second quarter of next year.

Bombardier Inc., headquatered in Montréal, Canada, is the world’s only manufacturer of both planes and trains and posted revenues of $18.2 billion at the end of las year. Headquartered in Dorval, Quebec, Bombardier Aerospace–a division of Bombardier Inc.–is the third largest aircraft manufacturer in the world after Airbus and Boeing and reportedly accounts for more than half of Bombardier Inc.’s revenue.
