A Look At The New Apple Watch Hermès Collection

Now that all the dust has settled after Apple’s recent announcement where they unveiled new iPhones, iPads, and a few other products, we can take a look at one of their more interesting new offerings, the Apple Watch Hermès collection. When smartwatches first began to gain traction, many were unsure if they would break into the luxury markets. Apple went ahead and initially offered a range of gold Apple Watches when they first came out, and now they are doubling down on the luxury smartwatch with their recent collaboration with Hermès.

A few key arguments against the smartwatch is that they aren’t very luxurious and many of them aren’t feminine. Those are valid complaints, but that is starting to change with these new Hermès Apple Watches. So what happens when you combine great hardware from Apple with watch bands from a leading fashion house? Well nothing short of luxury of course.

For the Hermès collection, the Apple Watch has remained the same. It’s the stainless steel version that’s still rocking all the same specifications as the normal Apple Watch, but obviously this time the straps are different. The collection is comprised of three new leather bands that come in a variety of colors. There’s the “Single Tour”, “Double Tour”, and the “Cuff” bands, all of which offer different styles at different price points.

The Single Tour is a fairly straightforward leather band that is classically very Hermès. It’s a standard leather strap that’s rocking the Hermès logo. Prices start at $1,100 for that model and it’s available in Fauve (brown), Noir (black), and Capucine (red) leather. The Double Tour is very similar to the Single Tour, however it’s about twice the length. When you up it on, you’ll wrap the band twice around the wrist. Prices for that model start at $1,250 and they come in Fuave, Etain (gray), Capucine, and Blue Jean (blue) leather. Then finally there’s the Cuff which is the most expensive model as prices start at $1,500 and it is only available with the 42mm watch in Fauve.

In addition to the bands, the Hermès Apple Watches will come with a few unique watch faces that are only available on these models. Additionally they will be shipped in “luxurious” boxes that have the Hermès branding on them. These new bands are certainly very attractive, but they are also fairly expensive as well. However that’s to be expected as Apple and Hermès aren’t known for being “affordable”. The watches will go out on sale on October 5th and will be averrable in select Apple and Hermès retail stores. So who’s going to pick one up? Personally if I had $1,100+ to spend on a watch, I’d go for a more traditional timepiece. I guess we will have to see just how popular $1,100 smartwatches are.
