Ducati’s Scrambler is a Fine Revival Motorcycle

Ducati Scrambler

Ducati is a well known and prominent motorcycle manufacturer that is based out of Bologna, Italy. Founded in 1926 the company quickly became very successful, and their bikes are favorites among many motorcycle racers. Today Ducati has a wide lineup of motorcycles, most of which are sport bikes or super bikes. The company has been known for some time to make excellent, performance oriented motorcycles, however now we see somewhat of a change as Ducati has recently released their all new Scrambler motorcycles, and they are some terrific bikes.

Scramblers, cafe racers, and bomber motorcycles are coming back in style and Ducati is offering consumers a few versions of their own Scrambler. Original scrambler motorcycles were favored by many people during the 1960’s and the 1970’s and they were praised for their reliability, practicality, functionality, low cost, and how easy they are to ride. Scramblers could be driven in town, or taken off-road on a camping trip. The new Ducati Scramblers pay homage to these classic bikes that were loved by so many. Ducati wanted to introduce bikes that were attractive to a different type of crowd, and you actually view the Scramblers at a separate website. Most of the bikes that Ducati makes are powerful, expensive, aggressive, and performance-oriented bikes, and the scrambler is the opposite of that. The new Scramblers are now the cheapest, lightest, and least powerful bikes that Ducati produces.

The Ducati Scramblers come in four different versions: the Icon, the Urban Enduro, the Classic, and the Full Throttle. The differences between these bikes are primarily aesthetic and functional features. For example the Full Throttle has a lowered handle bar and a racing seat, while the Classic does not. Regardless all of the bikes are outfitted with a 803cc L-twin cylinder engine and a six-speed gearbox that produces 75 horsepower. These bikes are everyday motorcycles and cruising bikes, not those that you race at 170 miles per hour.

The Ducati Scramblers are great revival motorcycles and are meant to capture a new audience. The original Ducati Scramblers were meant to attract Americans, and Ducati is hoping these will catch on in the states as well. It is good to see Ducati make a different type of motorcycle. The bikes are being marketed at the young, adventurous type; people like musicians and artists, rather that people who want to go faster than the speed of light. Sure these bikes aren’t the fastest, or offer the most amount of features, but they know that. The Ducati Scramblers are a perfect fit for those looking for a modern, retro inspired bike and they start at $8,495 dollars making them very affordable as well.
