Newspapers are not dead yet, and plenty of people are still subscribing annually and reading them daily. There are hundreds of different newspaper publications around the world that have dedicated readers and continue to spread current events through physical means. Newspapers have needed to adapt to the digital age, and some companies have successfully done so and stayed relevant, so let’s take a look at the most read newspapers in the world.

5. Washington Post

The Washington Post is an American paper that was started back in 1877 and is now Washington’s most read newspaper. They generate around 26.4 million readers and 26 million primarily use the online services to read the paper. The Washington Post has won 47 Pulitzer Prizes and has covered major cultural events over the years such as the Watergate scandal with President Nixon.

4. People’s Daily

People’s Daily is a Chinese newspaper that is owned by the country’s Communist Party. The paper gets a total of 36 million readers, 33 being online readers. The paper is featured in Chinese but also offers versions in other languages like English, French, Spanish, Japanese, and Arabic. The paper offers all of the latest on the Chinese government, its policies, and international happenings.

3. The Guardian

The Guardian was founded in 1821 and is a British newspaper that gets a total of 39 million readers. The Guardian pretty much gets all of its readership draw from online with 38.9 million, which is great as long as people are still reading the content. The Guardian has achieved numerous amounts of prizes and awards over the years and is the third most read newspaper in the world.

2. The New York Times

The New York Times is the highest read American newspaper that was started in 1851. The Times have 50.5 million readers and 48.6 million of them are reading articles online. The newspaper still has a circulation of 1.8 million each day and has earned 112 Pulitzer Prizes over the years.

1. Daily Mail

The Daily Mail is a British newspaper that was founded in 1896. The company has a huge readership of around 128.6 million people, with 126.7 coming from the online category. Daily Mail is only second in British papers for circulation but is the most read due to its online following.
