Tablet PC’s were first conceptualized 20-30 years ago, however computer companies simply did not have the means or the technology to create them. Tablets have been around for sometime, however it wasn’t popularized until Apple developed, marketed, and sold the first iPad which today still remains one of the most successful tablets. Tablets can get expensive as technology companies need to cram a bunch of hardware into a very thin and portable form factor. However there are some companies out there who have created extremely cheap tablets that can still handle the workload of their bigger, more expensive brothers. We are going to take a look at some of the cheapest tablets that money can buy you today.

5. Acer Iconia A1 – $139.99

The first tablet on our list is the Acer Iconia A1. This budget tablet Android 4.4 Kit Kat and is aimed at consumers who don’t want to, or can’t shell out the big bucks for a tablet (the iPad air starts at $499). Don’t let this low price point fool you as the Acer Iconia is still a decent tablet with favorable reviews. This tablet has a 7.9 inch screen and packs a Intel Dual-Core Atom processor which is clocked at 1.6GHz. The tablet also has 16gb of SSD memory and 1gb of ram. Weighing only .83 pounds, the Acer Iconia A1 can give you around seven and a half hours of battery life.

4. Amazon Kindle Fire HD – $139.00

Amazons “most affordable Kindle Fire” is next up on our list. This device packs a 7 inch HD screen that has 216 pixels per inch. It comes with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and built in wifi allowing you to browse the web at relatively fast speeds. This Kindle Fire is supposedly 60% faster than its predecessor and can give users around 10 hours of battery life.

3. Asus MeMO Pad HD 7 – $149

The Asus MeMO Pad HD 7 is an ultra-affordable tablet, that while extremely inexpensive, has received solid reviews from critics worldwide. This 7″ tablet weighs only 10.2 ounces and packs a 1.2 GHz processor that can be turbo boosted up to 1.8 GHz. The devices also has a 1280 x 800 HD resolution LCD screen that packs 215 pixels per inch. It has 16 GB of memory with 1 GB of ram and runs Android 4.2.1.

2. Tesco Hudi – $197

Next up on our list is the Tesco Hudi which is made by the British retailer Tesco. This low-end tablet packs a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, with 16gb of internal flash memory and runs Android Jellybean. Aiming to compete with the Nexus 7 and the Kindle Fire HD, Tesco wanted to create a budget tablet that would be solid competitor.

1. Alldaymall 7 –  $49

The Alldaymall 7 is one of the cheapest tablets you can buy. At only $49 dollars this tablet is very appealing to consumers who do not want to spend any money of a tablet, but still want a tablet. The device has a 1.5 GHz processor, a 7 inch screen with a screen resolution of 800 x 480, 512 MB of RAM, and only 8 GB of storage. While this product is very cheap, it does not have very good reviews (you get what you pay for).
