A Look At Some Of Wallace Chan’s Breathtaking Jewelry

Wallace Chan

Out of all the various high-end jewelers out there, only a select few are able to elevate their pieces from luxury items to priceless works of art. These jewelers are able to differentiate themselves from competitors as they offer a product unlike anything else imaginable. Take the piece above for example, it features a massive gemstone that has been cut in such a way that it gives off a 3D image of a woman’s face. Oh an you’ll also find sapphires, opals, diamonds, and amethyst on it as well. That piece was created by Wallace Chan, and he is a perfect example of just how amazing jewelry can get.

Wallace Chan is a jeweler that operates out of Hong Kong and he is known for his artesian, high-end jewelry that often makes use of intricate designs and beautiful gemstones. His work is entirely art and he is not a commercial retailer of jewelry; he just makes one-of-a-kind piece’s, seemingly from another planet. This broach designed like an ant is another great example of his more complex work. Known as “The Mighty” it features two massive pearls shaped like ant body parts and a body adored with colored sapphires, diamonds, and of course it is holding a large rubellite.

While Chan is very-much so a master craftsman at what he does, he very much so had to earn it. He grew up relatively poor in China, even having to leave school at the age of just 13 to help his family. Still he persisted and pursued art as a young boy, sculpting actually. He moved on to jewelry within time and had even created his own style of cutting gemstones known as the “Wallace Cut” (shaping a face into a stone, like seen above). The earrings above, known as “Endeared”, are a more “traditional” work of jewelry only by the standard that it’s not an insect. Even still we see a stunning display of pink, aquamarine, and white colors made from diamonds, amethyst, crystals, and pink sapphires.

It seems that as you browse Mr. Chan’s various displays of his talent, you ask yourself “well how could you make jewelry anymore incredible” and you are given an answer from the next piece.

There are plenty of jewelers out there who think about how many diamonds you can fit on a ring, but with Mr. Chan’s work there is much more. His work is truly art that also happens to be priceless pieces of jewelry. Their is no indication to how much these pieces cost, however from time to time some of his “simpler” work can show up at auctions. A pair of fairly standard pearl and diamond earrings might sell for close to $1 million dollars, for example. However I am sure that if you have enough money, you could become a owner of one of these amazing pieces of art.
