Cricket is a sport that was created in England and can be traced back all the way to the early Tudor era’s of 16th century England. It is a game that is played with a specific type of bat and a ball, somewhat like baseball. Two teams of 11 men or women take turns batting and fielding in a rectangular shape, 22 yard long field. The sport has then grown to a professional level and is extremely popular in England, Australia, India, and Africa. So we are going to take a look at the highest paid cricket players in the world, and they are all from India.

5. Virender Sehwag – $6.9 Million

Sehwag has been interested in cricket since he was just a tiny baby, and has turned his interest into a full time career. He was picked up by the Dehi team in 1997 and has been playing professionally ever since. He currently plays for the Kings XI Punjab, after spending some time with the Delhi Daredevils. His estimated cricket play is around $2.8 million dollars and receives $4.1 million in endorsements from Fila, Royal Challenge, and Hero Honda.

4. Virat Kohli – $7.1 Million

Next up on our list is Virat Kohli, a strong and aggressive cricket player. He plays for the Indian national team and the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He is a middle-order batsman and he can bowl right arm medium pace. In 2008 he was captain for the Indian national team and took his team to victory for the Cricket World Cup. He is paid around $3.1 million for cricket and $4 million dollars for endorsements.

3. Guatam Gambhir – $7.3 Million

Coming it at number 3 on our list is professional cricket player Guatam Gambhir. Guatam has been playing cricket since the age of 10 and currently plays for the Delhi team and the Kolkata Knight Raiders as their left-handed opening batsman. Gambhir is only one of four men, and the only Indian who scored five hundreds in five consecutive matches. He is paid around $3.9 million to play cricket and receives around $3.4 million in endorsements from Red Bull, Hero Honda, and Reebok.

2. Sachin Tendulkar – $18.6 Million

Sachin Tendulkar is often called “the best batters of all time” and is a truly amazing cricket player. He saw an amazing career in India but currently plays for the Marlybone Cricket Club based in London. He is the only player who has scored over 30,000 runs in his international career.  He is paid only $2.1 million for playing, but receives around $16.5 million in endorsements from Addidas, Coca Cola, and Castrol.

1. Mahendra Singh Dhoni – $26.5 Million

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a legendary cricket player and is the current captain of the Indian national team. He plays as the wicket-keeper and an attacking middle-order batter. He currently plays for Jharkhand and the Chennai Super Kings, where he receives around $3.5 million to play, and $23 million from Reebok, Sony, and Pepsi endorsements.
