Joe Biden Says, “I’m Not Rich” To the Middle Class

2nd Annual Creativity Conference Presented By The Motion Picture Association Of America

Only about a week after Hilary Clinton claimed that she and Bill Clinton were “dead broke” when they left the White House, we now have Vice President Joe Biden attempting to appeal to the middle class by telling them, “I’m not rich.” Both Clinton and Biden are projected to be potential Democratic presidential candidates in 2016, so this constant attempt to appeal to the middle class is not too surprising.

Vice President Biden tried relating with those who are middle class citizens in a speech he gave on Monday at the White House’s Working Families Summit. Biden told the crowd that he had no saving accounts and was only wearing a “mildly expensive suit” to the event.  Additionally, it is being reported that Biden told those in attendance that he was one of the poorest men of Congress back when he was Delaware’s senior U.S. Senator.

“Don’t hold against me that I don’t own — that I don’t own a single stock or bond. Don’t hold it — I have no savings accounts. But I got a great pension and I got a good salary,” Biden said to the crowd.

Biden says that while he has been “very, very fortunate” when compared to the amount of money that his friends in Scranton, PA possess, he also wants to emphasize the fact that he no does not have the enormous wealth that countless Washington politicians boast.

According to Joe and Jill Biden’s 2013 tax return, the vice presidential couple Joe made $407,000 last year, which is 5.7 percent more than what they made they year before. The report also states that Biden possesses other assets between $276,000 and $940,000 that include a rental cottage next to his Greenville home and $200,000 in certificates of deposit.

Also found among the assets in the report – a savings account that the Biden’s have. Its value is no less than $15,000.
