Richard Mille Has Created A New Watch Material By Fusing Together Gold, Carbon, and Quartz

Richard Mille

We can always count on Richard Mille to deliver some of the most progressive and unique watches in the world, and the company has just done it again. The watchmakers have joined forces with North Thin Ply Technology to create two new materials: Gold Quartz-TPT and Gold NTPT Carbon.

These new materials will be used in two upcoming watches for women, which are the RM 07-01 and the RM 037, both of which are impressive in their own rights. Both Richard Mille and North Thin Ply Technology put in countless amounts of hours to get these new composite materials just right. Essentially they were able to combine gold leaf with either quartz or carbon, and the end result is quite remarkable. They alternate between adding layers of either the Quartz-TPT or the NTPT Carbon with layers of gold leaf, all of which are no more than 10 microns thick. You are then presented with a watch that’s not only striking and unique, but made from high-end materials as well.

The RM 07-01 and the RM 037 are officially the first timepieces to feature these new materials, and we would bet that they won’t be the last. Richard Mille has not announced prices or a release-date yet, however they always produce their watches in extremely limited numbers and they cost tens of thousands of dollars, if not even more. Regardless Richard Mille has proven once again that they are one of the leading names in the watch industry.
