The Five Most Expensive Rolex Watches of All-Time

India Republic Rolex

When you think of expensive watches, you think of Rolex. The company is easily the most well-known and well-regard upscale jewelry company around. But just how expensive can a Rolex watch get? Here are the five most expensive Rolex watches of all-time.

5. Dr. Rajendra Prasad’s Gold Rolex Oyster: $440,000

This watch was owned by the first president of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, and it was a gift that he received on India’s first Republic Day back in 1950. The dial of the watch is 18 karat gold, and it has a map of India with the date of the first ever Republic Day (January 26, 1950) inscribed into it.

Bond Watch

4. James Bond 1973 Rolex 5513: $450,000

So apparently if you really want to be like James Bond, you’ll need to shell out almost a half a million dollars. This watch belonged to Roger Moore back when he played James Bond in 1973 in the film Live and Let Die. In the movie, Bond’s watch possesses both razor disk  and a magnetic field generator, which the actual watch itself also features.

Rolex GMT

3. Rolex GMT 116769TBR: $485,350

76 Diamonds. That’s how many encompass the body of the Rolex GMT watch, which also comes in a case made of 18 karat white gold. And if the shining beauty and prestige of that isn’t enough for you, the watch is also water proof and can survive up to 100 meters under water.

Clapton Rolex

2. Eric Clapton’s 1971 Rolex Daytona: $505,000

The $500,000 price for this watch isn’t because of the amount of diamonds it has or the type of gold its made out of. No, a Rolex Daytona like this is usually valued at $100,000, but because it’s been touched by the legendary rock star Eric Clapton, the price of this particular watch skyrockets an additional $400,000. And it doesn’t even come with one of his guitars.

Chronograph Rolex

1. 1942 Rolex Chronograph: $1.17 Million

The 1942 Rolex Chronograph was actually given out as gifts to race car drivers in the UK and Italy and was originally estimated to be worth close to $600,000. However, this watch is one of only twelve ever produced and has a split second chronograph that would help drivers keep track of their lap times, the only split chronograph ever made by Rolex to this day.  Both of these details certainly up its value.
