We can always rely on Hublot to create some pretty impressive watches and their newest creation, the Big Bang Unico Sapphire, is quite the timepiece. While it has a similar silhouette seen in their other Big Bang watches, this particular timepiece is completely unique as it is almost entirely transparent.
Hublot plans to officially unveil the Big Bang Unico Sapphire at Baselworld next month, but they just couldn’t wait to show it off. Obviously the most impressive feature about this watch is its completely transparent design. The watch is almost entirely made from sapphire-crystal which is quite amazing since sapphire is nearly as hard as diamonds. Additionally the skeleton dial is made from transparent resin which further accentuates the watch’s aesthetic appeal. The only parts that aren’t transparent are the screws, the crown, the buckle, and a few other smaller pieces which are constructed from titanium. Throw in a clear silicone strap and the Big Ban Unico Sapphire is one of the most unique watches we’ve seen Hublot unveil in a long time.
The watch uses the companies in-house automatic Unico HUB1242 flyback chronograph movement which you can really appreciate thanks to the transparent design. The watch also has a 72-hour power reserve and is water resistant up to 50 meters. In total Hublot has only produced just 500 examples of this gorgeous timepiece and they are available for sale to the tune of $57,900 dollars. Compared to other watches that are made almost entirely from sapphire, this price is actually quite “affordable” (okay, I know it’s still a lot). This is probably the most fascinating and unique timepiece we’ve seen in recent memory, and it’s one that any watch collector should take a look at.
