Bulgari Unveils World’s Thinnest Minute Repeater at Baselworld 2016

Bulgari

Baselworld 2016 was not short on innovation this year and one of the companies who’s always impressing the field is Bulgari.  This year was no different as they unveiled a model of beauty.  The “Bulgari Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater” is allegedly the thinnest on the market in terms of the watch itself and the movement it creates. With an ultra-thin case of 6.85 mm and a movement thickness of 3.12 mm, the model’s case and dial are crafted from titanium material — a low-density material known for its capabilities when it comes to sound resonance.

Part of the brand’s superb line of ultra-thin watches, the Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater has been newly configured to accommodate a crystal-clear chiming sound and uniform cadence, to offer an ultra-thin design and to clench a world record.

The Bulgari watch breaks the previous “thinnest minute repeater in the world” record – set in 2013 by Piaget with the Emperador Coussin Ultra-thin Minute Repeater. That watch houses a movement that measures 4.8mm in thickness and, when cased, measures 9.4mm in thickness. Additionally, the sound has not been compromised in any way and is actually melodiously clear.

The case of this watch is crafted of titanium to achieve light weight and a good soundboard for the chimes thanks to the low-density of the metal. The sound diffusion not only resounds nicely against the case and sides, but also filters through the incised titanium hour markers and small seconds counter on the dial – further amplifying the sound.
