Cruise ships are certainly one of the most impressive vehicles that man has ever produced. Sure they don’t go fast, but these floating cities are monumental engineering achievements in my opinion. There are many extremely large cruise ships out there, but the largest in the world are the Oasis-Class ships that are owned by Royal Caribbean. Now the company has recently unveiled their plans for their newest ship, and it will be the largest cruise ship that has ever been constructed.
Royal Caribbean is naming these new Oasis-Class vessel the “Harmony of the Seas” and it is absolutely insane. The previous ship that held the title for the worlds largest cruise ship was their Allure of the Seas, but this one will be even large when constructed. The Harmony of the Seas will come in at about 1,194 feet in length and it will weigh over 225,000 gross tons; it’s amazing to think that something like this can stay afloat.
The Harmony of the Seas is still being built in a shipyard in France, and Royal Caribbean expect the ship to be launched sometime in April of next year. Now obviously this ship will be a floating city that is outfitted with a long list of luxury amenities to please vacationers. Apparently the ship will have multiple pools, a water park, surfing simulators, an ice skating rink, multiple restaurants and bars, luxury boutiques, robot bartenders, and much more.
While all the details have not been revealed just yet, it does seem like this ship will be outfitted with the latest cruise-ship technologies, as it needs to be considering how large it is. We don’t know how many people can fit on board but its smaller sister ship, the Allure, can easily accommodate at least 5,400 at double occupancy so we expect the Harmony to be able to fit even more people.
