Known for it’s great night life, historic landmarks, rich culture, and great food, Madrid is certainly a great city to visit. It is the third largest city in all of the European Union and it is filled with plenty of things to do. If you are a foodie, Madrid is also a great city to eat in. There is a wide variety of restaurants here and it is home to some of the best tapas bars in the entire world. So if your visiting Madrid or are just passing through, what’s a good place to grab a bite to eat? Here are five of the best places to dine out in Madrid.
5. Sergi Arola Gastro
Ever since Sergi Arola Gastro opened its doors, people from all over have been filling the tables. This Catalonian restaurant has received two Michelin stars so you know they are quite good. They serve traditional Spanish favorites with some creative dishes, and the menu changes every couple of weeks.
4. Casa Gonzalez
When you visit Madrid, you have to eat out at a tapas bar. Featured in a Woody Allen film, Casa Gonzalez is a great place to come and try a variety of different tapas. Now the whole city is filled with many great tapas bars, but this is a great restaurant to start at.
3. Zalacain
Zalacain has been a well respected restaurant since it opened its doors in 1973, and it makes for a great place to eat out at. They serve a variety of modern and traditional Spanish dishes and they have over 800 different types of wine. What’s not to love about that?
2. Botín
Winner of many culinary awards and the Guinness Book of World Records holder for the oldest restaurant in the entire world, Botín is something you absolutely have to try. Sure many people may consider it a tourist trap, but the food is still very good and you get to dine in a restaurant that has been in business since 1725.
1. La Terraza Del Casino
Lead by head chef Paco Roncero who often consults with the legendary Ferran Adrià (head chef from El Bulli, which is often considered the best restaurant of all-time), La Terrazzo Del Casino never disappoints. Roncero was a student of Adrià so the cuisine here is extremely experimental, avant-garde, and it could be considered works of art. For a truly unique and memorable experience, La Terraza Del Casino is a must.
