Million Dollar Listing New York Returns With Three Unbelievable Properties

With interest rates still at historic lows and demand at an all-time high for foreign buyers in Manhattan, it makes for interesting times.  Which is why the premiere of Million Dollar Listing New York was a fun one to embark on.  But things were actually eventful even before the show.  Turns out that on Monday festivities began to hype up the premiere. Luis D. Ortiz of Douglas Elliman, Fredrik Eklund of Elliman and Ryan Serhant of Nest Seekers International spent the evening posing for Instagram shots with fans, presenting the crowd with a teaser video of the season and schmoozing to no end at Andaz Wall Street rooftop.

Then on Tuesday Ryan Serhant hosted his own premiere party at Lavo, a nightclub in Midtown. A total of 1,100 guests filed into the space after waiting on a two-block line, Serhant said.  Turns out that it’s been a pretty big year for the stars of the show.

“In February, the shortest month of the year,” said Eklund “I sold $152 million in one month, which is about triple the highest amount I sold in a month in 2013, which made No. 1 in the nation. I’ve been doing this for 12 years,” he continues. “I’ve never seen anything like it. … It’s booming now more than it ever has before, more than 2006 and 2007, before the downturn. The pricing is crazy; it’s very strong. You have like a perfect storm of a lot of new developments, which I control most of, and then buyers international and even sellers, which is unique. Sellers are putting their apartments on the market, so there’s a really healthy, moving, liquid market right now, yes. And interest rates are fairly low.”

So let’s get a recap on the properties that were featured on last night’s premiere of Million Dollar Listing New York:

Ryan Serhant’s Listing from Young Woo $ Associates – $23 Million

Serhant, an executive VP at Nest Seekers International listed a gorgeous Penthouse at the Sky Garage located at 200, 11th avenue (Cross Street, 24th). The apartment is called The One Penthouse. The apartment is brought to us by Young Woo & Associates in collaboration with world-renowned Dutch architecture firm MVRDV. The unit was held onto by the developer in order to create an even more amazing home than the building it sits in which only houses 14 apartments in total. Penthouse was completely redesigned. It’s a 3,598 square foot 3 bedroom, 3 and a half bathroom duplex that retains 80 feet of frontage over the Hudson River, with protected panoramic views from the 12th and 13th floors. The apartment boasts 22 foot ceiling heights and sheathed in windows—with 668 square feet of exterior space spread over two loggias and access to the en suite. The unit is listed at $23 Million and features every possible amenity you could imagine at that price. The building itself ranks highly among the world’s most classic buildings.

Frederik Eklund’s Listings – 40 Units in the Apthorp  – $250 Million

Built in 1908, the 160-unit Apthorp has always been one of Manhattan’s stateliest properties, with its central courtyard, two fountains and ornamental gates — attracting celeb residents including Nora Ephron, Al Pacino and Louis C.K over the years.  Back in 2006, the holding company JSR Capital managed to take hold of 40 units when the building underwent a conversion from rentals to condos.  The building also managed to weather the economic storm by leasing and renting.  However, as leases expire and renovations wrap up in the next three to five years, these properties are now on the market and JSR Capital hopes to sell them all off for more than $250 million.

Luis D Ortiz’s Listing – 353 Central Park W #4 – $5.99 Million

Located on Manhatta’s upper west side this amazing home has an elegant European style.  In fact many people would say that “Paris meets Central Park West” with this unit.   As soon as the elevator opens you enter your own private landing which leads to a gallery that eventually opens up to stunning Central park views.  Unlike many other apartments in Central Park West, this space features a separate formal dining room that can seat 8-10 people and still capture views of the park.   The overall size of the apartment is 2779 square feet.  The building itself houses only 16 homes, features a 24 hour doorman and has much of the amenities one would desire for this spot that includes a state of the art gym, roof garden, bike room and private storage for each home.  And compared to the other two listings in this page, its price tag is a steal.
