Five Tiny Houses that Are Way More Expensive Than you Think

A little cottage photographed in Rotorua, New Zeal

When people have enough money to build or buy an expensive house, they usually think to go big. The bigger the size the more money it cost, right? Well, actually there are plenty of smaller homes that are very creative and weren’t cheap. I think it would be cool to own one of these properties but we’ll see if I ever get to that point…

Here are five tiny houses that are way more expensive than you think.

5. Escape by Canoe Bay – $124,900

This home technically an RV because it gets the owners out of paying residential property taxes, and is very quaint. The property is nested in the woods with a screened in porch and living room kitchen combination with a fireplace. There is a bedroom with a bathroom attached and night tables built in as well. The place is small, but cozy and a great looking getaway spot.

4. Massachusetts Beach Cottage – $199,999

This home is only 272 square feet and located in Turo, Massachusetts. The property is beachfront and comes with about a thousand feet of private beach. The home has a very relaxing beach vibe with appliances and furniture in soft colors. The Beach Cottage has its own brick patio that offers gorgeous views.

3. Bayfront Florida Cabin – $280,000

The Bayfront Florida Cabin is just 380 square feet and once cost as much as $475,000. It’s latest price was only $280,000 but this property is a steal at that price. It’s technically listed as a tear-down but that’s not really the case. The small home has bold colored appliances and a color coordinated room.

2. Tiny Lake Tahoe Cabin – $419,000

This property located in Zephyr Cove, Nevada is as true a log cabin as they come these days. The home is 475 square feet and was built all the way back in 1929. It sits on a lakefront community and was actually placed on the national registry of historical places. There is a cozy sleeping loft and looks nice if you don’t mind small spaces.

1. Artists Retreat – $1.2 Million

This place is located in Montecito, California and looks like something that Bilbo Baggins would live in (which is amazing). This adobe home is 510 square feet but comes with a large 1.09 acres. It was built back in the 1960’s and is still around today, recognized by it’s famous blue door.
