Home building and architecture have always been a very creative field, especially for those with high net worth and funds to spend. While houses can be made out of many different materials, a recent trend has been to use pretty much all glass. Glass houses are very neat and offer a modern style that gives homeowners great views from all angles, especially if they build in certain locations. Let’s take a look at the most expensive glass houses and what makes them so neat.

5. Costa Rica – $1.4 million

This home is located in Costa Rica and was designed by Andres Morales back in 2007. The home has a very modern circular shape and white color aside from being completely glass. There is a main house along with the guest house and this place even has a helipad. The house is located right near a Costa Rican national park so the views are stunning, looking out upon a beautiful wooded landscape. The glass provides a full 360 degree view of both mountains and ocean to give owners the view of a lifetime.

4. The Ben Rose Home – $1.65 million

You might recognize this home from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – that’s right, it’s Cameron’s house! The iconic all glass home in the woods was actually designed by David Haid and James Speyer way back in 1953. The home is located in Illinois and sits right over a peaceful ravine that is a part of it’s multiple acre lot. The design is a relatively simple glass box but in the woods there is always something new to look at or observe, especially with seasonal changes.

3. London, England – $7.97 million

This glass home is located in London, England and sits perched on a hill above the cemetery where Karl Marx and Malcolm McLaren are buried. The backside of the house, which faces the cemetery, has frameless clear glass to provide a spectacular view, while the front road side of the house features darkened glass to give owners some more privacy. The home offers 4,225 square feet and the kitchen roof is even made of glass and retracts back to offer a very interesting open air skylight.

2. Son Vida on Mallorca – $14.3 million

This home is made from glass and steel and sits on an island off the coast of Spain. The walls are completely made from glass offering the fullest views out across the island mountains. The house also comes with a separate apartment and full deck with pool and sauna to relax and enjoy the weather on. The property is gated and sits high up overlooking the entire city of Palma below.

1. Montecito, California

This California home was designed by Steve Hermann and has a total of 14,000 square feet. The property itself is a total of 3.5 acres and the glass home looks out into some nice trees and open skies above. The house took six years to create and build but uses the same glass featured in jewelry display cases because of how ridiculously clear it is. There is plenty of space in this home and is currently houses the owner’s 30+ car collection.
