The United States is filled with a virtually endless amount of zip codes and neighborhoods. Out of all the various zip codes in America, some have more wealth than others. It might not surprise most people that most of the wealthiest zip codes are in the Northeast. The Northeast has a very dense population and a high concentrations of well educated dwellers which leads to income advancement and competition for the best places to live. The research company known as FindTheBest compiled information of peoples average income over a five year period. They then took a look at the zip codes where a large majority of the households were making over $150,000 dollars, and zip codes that had more than 10,000 people. From that data we can look at the wealthiest ones. So let’s take a look at the wealthiest zip codes in the United States.

10. McLean, Virginia – 22101

58% of the residents earn greater than $150,000

This suburb of Washington D.C. has a high concentration of politicians and government officials which contribute to the overall wealth of the area. These folks are also very smart. High school students in this zip code can boast of the highest SAT/ACT scores on this list as well.

9. Southlake, Texas – 76092

 58% of the residents earn greater than $150,000

Southlake, a suburb of Dallas-Fort Worth, holds two specific distinctions on the list: it is the only zip outside of the Northeast and it is the least educated on this list. It does hold one honor: the median age of the homes in this zip is only 19 years old compared to many that are over 40 years old. So they may not be the best educated, but their homes are new and modern.

8. Darien, Connecticut – 06820

60% of the residents earn greater than $150,000

This quiet town in southern Connecticut is the home to many who work in nearby Manhattan which is only a 40 minute train ride away. One distinction of this town is that it is the least racially diverse town on our list with over 95% of the residents identifying as caucasian. They are also making New York City salaries but living in a somewhat more affordable area.

7. Clarksville, Maryland – 21029

62% of the residents earn greater than $150,000

This town is located between Washington, D.C. and Baltimore and has some of the most expensive homes in the nation. Also they can boast that they are the most racially diverse town on this list.

6. Potomac, Maryland – 20854

62% of the residents earn greater than $150,000

This pretty town sits on the banks of the Potomac River and is also home to many Washington, D.C. elite. It is also home to several nationally ranked schools that are some of the best in the nation. It also bears the distinct honor of being home to the most retirees and women on our list.

5. Chappaqua, New York – 10514

64% of the residents earn greater than $150,000

This former farming town is now a tony hamlet north of New York City and is filled with Ivy League bound students. This town is not car dependent with over a third of the residents regularly riding public transportation. That fact makes it the most public transit friendly town on this list.

4. Great Falls, Virginia – 22066

67% of the residents earn greater than $150,000

This town sits on the desirable west bank of the Potomac River and many residents commute daily to Washington, DC. The households in this town can boast that they own over three cars per home and over 94% of the residents own their home.

3. Weston, Connecticut – 06883

With lots of affluence, low crime, great schools, big properties, and open space it’s no wonder people would love to call this zip home. It is also the smallest town on this list with just over 10,000 residents.

2. Fairfax Station, Virginia – 22039

68% of the residents earn greater than $150,000

This suburb located southwest of Washington, DC is home to politicians and government officials. With the average car ownership of five cars per home, it’s no wonder it is known for traffic jams. This town is also the home to the most middle age and older folks than any other town on our list.

70% of the residents earn greater than $150,000

This town lies west of New York City and is filled with open space, country clubs and commuters that work in mid-town Manhattan and Wall Street. It offers a lot of what you would want: open space and good schools along with a relatively easy commute to one of the greatest cities in the world.
