Introducing The $1,600 “Candy” Chanel Necklace

Chanel is a name that is not only well known within the fashion industry, but well known throughout the world. Ever since Coco Chanel founded the company in Paris in 1909, it quickly grew to prominence and became one of the most expensive fashion and clothing brands in the entire world. In addition to their clothing goods, the company also makes some of the most expensive jewelry in the world. This jewelry is worn by all who can afford its high price tag. Their jewelry is typically classically styled however, Chanel is selling a necklace that is pretty different: their Long Colored Resin Necklace aka the “Candy Necklace”.

There are some really strange pieces of jewelry out there, and this is definitely one of them. This necklace is modeled off of the candy necklaces that you buy from stores for like two dollars. Chanel saw the candy necklace and felt that it would be a good idea to model some of their jewelry off of it, as if the original candy necklace was some sort of progressive piece of jewelry. This is a pretty atypical style of jewelry for Chanel, as they typically produce more traditional styles of jewelry.

Like the original candy necklace, this necklace is made from a variety of different colored rings, which are white, yellow, pink, blue, and green. The rings themselves are made from resin. Additionally, the Chanel logo is found throughout the necklace. It should be noted that the Chanel necklace is not edible, otherwise that would probably be the most expensive sugar candies ever. The necklace is pretty pricey at $1,600 dollars as there are no valuable materials found within the necklace; it is not like its made from gold or has diamonds on it. Also to complete the set, there is a matching $1,500 dollar cuff to go with the necklace that is in the shape of the Chanel logo. This seems like a pretty strange thing to drop $1,600 on, $3,100 for the complete set. I kind of think its tacky, I mean this is supposed to be Chanel right? Regardless a few celebrities have been spotted wearing this necklace, but I can’t help to think that its a fad.
