If you are in the market for extremely rare and expensive musical instruments, then surprisingly eBay is a good place to look. One can literally find nearly anything on eBay including vintage violins. They have many different violins that are historical instruments that could arguably be put on display in a museum. If you’re looking to get into the violin, then these violins are probably not for you given their price. We are going to take a look at some of the most expensive violins for sale currently on eBay.
For $245,000 the third most expensive violin that is currently on eBay is an Italian violin made by Enrico Rocca. The vintage, 102 year old violin was created in 1912 in Genova. The violin has all of the original labels on it, its singed by Rocca himself, and is certified by professionals ensuring its authenticity. This violin has been kept in pretty good condition and is still very much playable. The aged wood sounds nicely, and produces a deep and rich tone.
If you are looking for a rarer violin, then check out this one that is 317 years old. With a listed price of $350,000 dollars this rare violin was made by Alessandro Mezzadri in Ferrara back in 1697. He was a well known master violin maker at the time, and this is one of only a few that survive today. The violin has its original label and is a great example of Mezzandri’s excellent work. The back of the violin is made from four pieces that are artistically arraigned and it still has its original varnish. The violin is a certified original from J. & A. Beare in London.
Now the most expensive violin that is currently on eBay is the “Filius Andrea” which is listed for $650,000 dollars. This violin is 319 years old and was made by the Italian master violin maker Giuseppe Guarneri. This is an extremely rare violin that is perfect for a concert soloist, however I personally would not feel comfortable playing an instrument of this nature due to how old and expensive it is. It is a smaller violin; only 7/8ths the size of a normal one, however it is still magnificent. This violin has been certified by J.J. Rampal in Paris, and has been kept in amazing condition. There are a variety of other rare and limited violins on eBay, however these are the most expensive that are currently on the site.
