Luxury Resort of The Week: The Surprisingly Moderately Priced Oberoi, Mauritius

The Oberoi Mauritius

About 700 miles of the eastern coast of Madagascar is the island of Mauritius. It’s a fairly small island nation that is located within the Indian Ocean, fairly removed from the rest of the world. Mauritius is exotic, beautiful, and certainly very remote and it is here that we find our luxury resort of the week. About ten miles from the capital of Mauritius, Port Louis, is The Oberoi, Mauritius. The Oberoi brand has a variety of of properties found throughout the world that are exquisite, however this particular location stands out as one of their nicest offerings.

The Oberoi, Mauritius is a high-end, luxurious, and five-star beach resort that is located in one of the most exotic and remote locations in the world. The property sits on over 20-acres of lush tropical gardens and forests, and obviously the beach as well. With incredible views of sunsets each night, The Oberoi, Mauritius’s location cannot be beat. So let’s take a look at what this premium resort has to offer.

The Oberoi, Mauritius is one of those resorts that offers the complete package. It has a bit of everything here, and it will be challenging to find any faults with the property. That is why it has won a variety of awards over the years. The establishment has all the features that you’d expect from a five-star resort: a few restaurants and bars, a fitness center, an attentive staff, an incredible beach, a high-end spa, incredible rooms, and more. While any premium resort can offer those things, it’s the delivery that counts, and The Oberoi, Mauritius certainly delivers. The Oberoi, Mauritius goes above and beyond expectations, and it is truly an incredible resort. Which is probably why TripAdvisor ranked this resort within the top 25 resorts of the entire world.

Accommodations at this resort are only in the form of private villas and pavilions, of which there are only just 71. So not only is this resort absolutely beautiful, it is also extreme exclusive and intimate as well. Each villa/pavilion is essentially a small home that boasts a living room, a dining room, marble bathrooms, a few bedrooms, great views, private gardens, and a pool as well. Some of the larger villas offer over 7,000-square-feet of space, so again, the accommodations here are essentially small homes. The villas and pavilions are also spread throughout the properties 20-acres of land, so they are very private and secluded as well. You would also be surprised at how much they cost. When I was looking at the rates, you can get the most basic room for around $565 dollars per night. Now that is certainly expensive, however when compared to some of the other resorts that we have looked at, the price here is very competitive.

For the luxury travelers of the world that are seeking an exotic vacation in a remote area, The Oberoi, Mauritius is very attractive. It’s extremely removed from the rest of the world, and it may be an adventure to get here, but it’s absolutely beautiful. Form the incredible beach that’s located on a natural marine park to the private villas, The Oberoi, Mauritius redefines the world “luxury”. Sure it’s expensive, but given what it has to offer, it seems to be worth the price. I for one, would love for the opportunity to stay here. Who wouldn’t want a private dinner on the beach at night?
